Out of all the changes to come out of motherhood, one of the least expected for me was my appearance slump.

Arun and I when I was almost 4 months pregnant! Hair: check. Pretty earrings: check. Tiny baby bump: check!
Before having kids, I loved getting dressed up and accessorizing. I enjoyed shopping and trying on new outfits. I enjoyed taking care of myself. Now however, like so many moms out there, I end up putting myself last and everyone else first. (Come on, moms – you know you do this too!)
I always enjoy getting ready for work for this reason – I actually spend some time taking care of how I look before going to work and leave the house feeling good about myself. A nice outfit, my hair done, and some pretty accessories to go with the whole ensemble.

Let’s face it, mom style needs to be practical (maybe not always leggings, but it still must be practical and comfortable)! Between the 4 year old and the 6 month old, this momma definitely isn’t pulling out the pearl necklace to wear at the park! Especially since I know that the 6 month old would just love to grab hold of whatever necklace I’m wearing and pull like her life depends on it. So you can bet that when I discovered the local small business, Tiny Teethers, I was excited at the chance to dress up while still being kid-proof.

In addition to being made of silicone that is free of BPA, lead, cadmium, and phthalates, Tara’s fashionable line of products really does have something for everyone with offerings in a range of styles and colours. Trust me, it’ll be hard to narrow down your purchase with the great selection that Tiny Teethers has.

All Tiny Teethers necklaces are made of silicone that is completely safe for baby to chew on while being at the perfect length for baby to grab and play with. Little Pip has been in the teething phase for what seems like forever and is constantly trying to chew on anything and everything. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been out of the house and realized I forgot to grab some teething toys for her to play with. Now, instead of chewing on the straps of my baby carrier or on a toy that inevitably falls down and gets dirty, Meg has a convenient teething toy with my Tiny Teethers necklace! Recently she’s also taken to chewing on her pacifier clip, so I’ll be swapping out the cloth clip we currently have with one of Tara’s Tiny Teethers pacifier clips so that I know her clip is safe to chew on and that it will actually provide a bit of comfort to her. I know I love the Tiny Teethers products, and from Meg’s reaction to them, I think it’s safe to say she loves them as well!
Now, I talked about how my appearance has become more practical since having kids, but I haven’t mentioned something else that has changed since having kids: my environmental consciousness. I have always been interested in doing my part to take care of the world we live in, but since having children, I feel the drive to support companies that feel the same way. I love that Tiny Teethers acknowledges their environmental responsibility. The teething products that you buy from this company are made to last. Tiny Teethers acknowledges that this means that their products won’t break down and encourages customers to return their products when they are done using them and Tiny Teethers will take the products to a Vancouver-based facility (Urban Source) that collects these types of materials to be repurposed into art. So once you’re done with the your Tiny Teethers products, they won’t end up sitting in a landfill.
